Description of Significance THE DUNBAR SCHOOL IS SIGNIFICANT AS ATOKA'S HISTORIC SEPARATE SCHOOL. ALTHOUGH AN EARLIER SEPARATE SCHOOL OPERATED AT BOGGY POINT IN THE WESTERN SECTION OF ATOKA COUNTY IN THE LATE NINETEENTH CENTURY, IT WAS DUNBAR SCHOOL THAT SERVED AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENTS IN ATOKA COUNTY FOR MORE THAN HALF A CENTURY.
